Light
Place a Phalaenopsis in bright, indirect light. Protect its leaves from strong direct sun. Observe the plant and adjust its position if the light in your home changes through the seasons.
Water and drainage
Check the potting mix rather than watering on a fixed calendar. Water as the mix approaches dryness, let excess water drain, and avoid leaving the pot standing in water. In cooler New Zealand months the mix may dry more slowly.
Warmth and airflow
Keep the plant in a comfortably warm position away from cold draughts. Gentle air movement helps foliage dry after watering.
When your orchid arrives
Unpack it promptly and check the pot and foliage. Give it a stable position while it settles in. The delivery town alone cannot tell us the light, temperature or humidity inside your home.
This is demonstration copy, not plant-specific advice. Your grower should review the cultivar, potting medium and growing stage before publishing final guidance.
